Objectives: To evaluate the wound healing effect of aqueous leaf extracts of Tridax procumbens (AETP) in different topical (on the skin) formulations using rats. Methods: The wound healing effect of aqueous leaf extracts of Tridax procumbens (AETP) in different formulations, namely, Ointments (5% & 10%), Creams (5% & 10%) and Gels (5% &10%) were studied using excision wound model in rats. Results: The parameters observed in the study were Wound area, Re-epithelization, Vascularity, Fibroblast number and Collagen content. The AETP of Ointment, Creams, Gels (10%) and Silver Sulphadiazine (1%) revealed statistically significant results (p>0.01) when compared to control group at 21st day. Conclusion: The results infer that AETP possess dose dependent pro-healing potential. The order of potency concluded from the study is Silver sulphadiazine > AETP Ointment base > AETP Cream base > AETP Gel base.
